I finally got to go Sea-Kayaking

Sat. May 6 - I woke up and headed over to ITT at 8:30am to get packed up and load the kayaks for our trip to Giardini Naxos, which is about 35 minutes up the coastline from Catania. I rode with one of our drivers, Steven (he works for Public Works) and we took the truck with the kayaks on back while Rosario drove the 14-pax van. The weather was beautiful outside, but Rosario was worried about the strong winds being a problem getting the kayaks into the ocean. We arrived safely and started to unload the racks with the help from everyone. After about an hour, we finally had them all walked over to where we were gonna enter the water. The seas were kinda rough at the beach, but we had to try. The first few people tried, but everyone was tipping over out of the kayaks shortly after getting a few meters from the beach. The waves were just knocking people over. We were all getting pretty beat up on our legs and feet from trying to help people get in successfully, but the boats were coming right back in and bashing into our shins. It started to get really annoying, but it was definitely hard to get everyone into the sea successfully. After over an hour, the 11 other people were far enough into the sea that the waves were calm. The entire day was a lot of fun, we kayaked all the way past Taormina and ate lunch at a beachside restaurant. Some of the girls got sea sick throughout the day, but overall, it was exciting. The workout and suntan was nice too. We got back to Giardini Naxos around 3:30pm and had to pack everything back up. We got back onto base around 5pm and I just chilled in my room for the rest of the night. I went up to Pirate's room to borrow some of Joe's movies since he was still on leave. I had rock-climbing in the morning and work tomorrow night so I wanted to catch up on some sleep too.
